Victoria Rosser: “Resurgence”
Resurgence (n.): an increase or revival after a period of little activity, popularity, or occurrence.
With heavy influences from the Ashante culture of Ghana and the Afrofuturism movement, Resurgence aims to explore the perseverance and survival of the African Diaspora through the reimagination of a future with people of color as mythical royalty. The collection will use a striking color palette of deep reds and gold, bold prints, and a mixture of free-form and structured garments to juxtapose the ideas of elegance and edge. Resurgence is an innovative collection that is reflective of the past qualms of the diaspora, but is an ode to the rebirth and revival of a new generation of Afrofuturists.
