Lauren West: Pareidolia
My collection is inspired by Rorschach inkblot tests, which tap into individuals subconscious and reveal aspects of their personality. Titled Pareidolia, a psychological phenomenon involving an image or a sound wherein the mind perceives a familiar pattern of something where none actually exists, my collection of textiles taps into the consumer’s subconscious and connects to them on a personal level. My designs are for a resort-wear collection for women in their mid-twenties who love to explore the world. Combining an energetic mix of colors and hand painted inkblot patterns to create a relaxed, high-summer resort look, my collection will allow these women to celebrate all that the world has to offer while looking effortless and inspired.
