Julia Hong: Reclaimed

Greatly inspired by the story of “The Ugly Duckling”, Reclaimed captures the beauty of the undesired. The collection unfolds the transformation of the Ugly Duck from its unattractive beginning, represented by the deconstructed silhouettes, to its graceful end as a Swan. What was merely scrapes of fabric turns into elegant garments that tint the wearer with class and allow her to walk in confidence. The colors – white, gold and different shades of blue – are found from indigo dyeing process. Sometimes, there is a hidden beauty in things that are overlooked for their appearances. In this collection, that hidden beauty is reclaimed.
