Helen Remington: Cardsharp

Cardsharp is a womenswear collection that tells the story of a woman’s descent into gambling addiction. It opens with clean, youthful silhouettes that suggest naivety and excitement, but as her addiction deepens, her luck runs out. The designs begin to unravel, with asymmetrical lines and dark details painting a picture of her growing desperation and capturing the gradual loss of everything she once had.
From this collapse, a new kind of control emerges. Desperate to turn her luck around, she learns the art of deception. Silhouettes become larger and more untamed, hinting at her newly unchecked power. In the final looks, she rebuilds her reputation, but it is no longer an honest one. Cardsharp ends with a deep tension, where fortune is attained by breaking the rules, and the woman has lost herself.
