Eva Olivera: Majorelle
Majorelle is a contemporary take on Moroccan traditionalism. This collection is designed to merge together traditional Moroccan design and colors and intertwine them with the abstract motifs seen in contemporary design styles. The color “majorelle blue” serves as the foundation color of this collection, and will be demonstrated through various parts of my textile designs. This rich shade of blue is the color of the Majorelle Gardins mansion, located in Marrakech, Morocco. The idea of contemporary design stems from the silouhettes on the outside of the mansion, which are curved and abstract, rather than uniform. The goal is to combine these two concepts and turn them into a cohesive design style that is unique and impactful to the eye.
