Catherine Blazer: The Rise and Fall of the Rose
“The Rise and Fall of the Rose” is a womenswear collection inspired by the beautiful but ephemeral rose. My collection begins with a simple silhouette in ivory, evoking the purity and innocence of youth. Color is then added and silhouettes expanded, suggestive of a blossoming rose. As the collection concludes, the looks darken and become asymmetrical, representing the rose’s transition into beautiful decay. Using digital printing, applique and embroidery, I have created a collection for the woman who appreciates sophisticated design and excellent craftsmanship while expressing that beauty can be found at any stage of life.
