Candace Willett: In Unison
Living in a highly visual world, clothing is typically admired only from a still photo that captures a single point in time. While the aesthetics of apparel do aid in the expression of style, clothing does more for our bodies than what is seen momentarily at the surface. My inspiration came from how Lygia Clark viewed her sculptures as less of objects but more of bodies that experience “space and time”. I want to take the same approach to clothing as it is designed to support our life in continuous space and time. In Unison is a collection dedicated to this concept with all pieces featuring subtle visual elements that move with the wearer. The collection was visually inspired by the works of Lygia Clark in terms of construction techniques and colors as well.
