Anna Beth Gawarecki: Mental Material
For my senior collection, I am drawing from a deeply personal source. I have suffered from anxiety and bouts of depression for nearly the past decade, which have gotten increasingly difficult since starting college. I have decided to make my struggles into my art and express myself to the fullest extent that I am able. Fashion has always been my release. Clothes are my comfort. In my collection, I am exploring the concept of making my of anxiety and depression into a tangible form through clothing. I will be using many surface design techniques, such as textile design, embroidery, and distressing. I will also be using silhouette manipulation in my fashion designs. Additionally, I will be working with unconventional materials, such as chain, to convey my theme.
