Allie Plunkett: Anise

For my senior collection, I embraced the feeling of nostalgia that overcomes me when I spend time in nature. For me, nature has always created a peaceful longing for the past spent with family. The flower that inspired me, Anise, has a skinny, tall stem with voluminous & asymmetric blossoms that fan out into small, pearl like white flowers. Drawn from this inspiration, “Anise” pairs dark, muted colors with pastel colors to draw out these distant memories and tones seen in nature. This collection will feature asymmetry, gathering, and beading as well as color blocking with various textured fabrics. These techniques will create the sense of a mosaic of a field of flowers and the nostalgic colors will be used to indulge in this wistful feeling.
