Sydney Brown: Learning How to Fall

“Learning How to Fall” comes from a place of “no risk, no reward.” I’ve always been a cautious person in many aspects of my life, one big example being how I dressed growing up. I would get excited to wear an outfit that felt like “me” but then end up changing in fear of the looks or comments about where I was going “all dressed up.” As I’ve grown up, though, I’ve realized that on the path to becoming yourself, the reactions may continue, but you learn to ignore them and be unapologetic about who you are. At its core, this collection is a celebration of eclecticism, drawing inspiration from several of my favorite eras throughout fashion history. Life is too short to wait around for an occasion, and I hope to embody that realization throughout my collection.
