Chiana Royal: Tragic Delights

In ancient cultures, and throughout our history, wedding traditions have evolved and grown in very unexpected ways. It was occasionally customary for two lovers who had died before their wedding to tie the knot so that they may be bound in eternal happiness in the afterlife. This dark yet poetic history inspires my collection and tells the tragic story of a wedding where the ephemeral beauty of love lasts well beyond the grave. The story poses five central characters: a bride, a groom, a priest, a flower girl, and a ringbearer. Each has met a tragic fate, which has been subtly and artistically woven into the garments in a way not readily apparent at first glance. Upon learning of their story, viewers will unravel this mystery and understand the macabre tale that is the violent delights.
