Eliza Sweeney: No Shortcuts

My collection of outdoor backpacking gear merges high-performance functionality with bold color and surface design. Each product is designed with the same end goal in mind: lightweight, functional, durable, and unique. This collection aims to inspire people to see technical gear and expressive design working together.

Each item in this collection was cut and sewn by hand, demonstrating the time, precision, and care behind its construction. My pieces highlight the human touch that is often overlooked in the gear we rely on every day. Behind every backpack, jacket, or pair of shorts that we interact with are skilled hands shaping the final product.

With a foundation in textile design and experience in backpacking, each material has been carefully selected based on fiber content, structure, and end use, ensuring that each fabric will withstand and support extensive outdoor wear. Surface design and color are intentionally integrated into the construction, allowing these colors and patterns to tie seamlessly with function.

After hiking the Appalachian Trail in 2022 and the Pacific Trail in 2024, this collection will be hitting the trail with me in June of 2026 as I plan to hike the Continental Divide Trail, giving these pieces a true real life test of their design and function.
