Zeke Davis: Misinherited

This collection draws parallels between 20th century rural Appalachian communities in the southeastern United States and youth under centralized economies in 20th century Eastern Europe, it explores how similar conditions produce similar aesthetics without cultural exchange. Exploring inherited clothing, formal wear, repurposed workwear, surplus, and sportswear becoming daily wear. Function transitions to aesthetics. The collection introduces a “misinherited” aesthetic, promoting abnormal fitment. The wearer adapts to the clothing that is passed down. Wear is earned and any damage reflects its intended/unintended purpose. Youth becomes a mirror of economic and cultural
instability.
